With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Manoo Samaroo, a remarkable man who left a deep mark on his community and family, and inspired countless lives through his unwavering dedication and generosity. Manoo was born in Hampton Court on the Essequibo Coast of Guyana, but grew up and spent the majority of his life in Huist Dieren until he migrated to America in 1994.
He was a prominent businessman who provided for his family. But he was also charitable and donated food and supplies to those in the community who were ailing and struggling. Manoo also supported his village by funding developments for the Huist Dieren Mandir. In the words of his mentee - "he was an icon, a leader, an inspirational person to the entire community and a beacon of light to the Huist Dieren Mandir." Throughout his life, he worked tirelessly to support those around him. But one of Manoo's most enduring legacies is his family. Through his unwavering love and support, they were able to pursue dreams beyond anything he imagined. And they have built lives and families of their own.
Manoo is survived by his loving wife Ruby; their children - Unis, Yvonne, Linda, Easho, Kasho, Nandy and Amo; his grandchildren & his great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
The family will be present on Friday, February 14, 2025 from 5 to 9 PM at Ruggiero & Sons, Inc. Funeral Home - 732 Yonkers Avenue - Yonkers, NY 10704 (914) 375-1400. A Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 8 AM at the Funeral Home. A committal service will take place at 11 AM on Saturday at the Woolworth Chapel at Woodlawn Crematory - E. 233rd Street & Jerome Avenue - Bronx, NY 10470.
