Manson "Manny" Berg, 82, passed away on January 5, 2025, with his children by his side. Manny was born on November 17, 1942, to Carl A. and Ferne Berg. He spent a happy childhood in Twig, MN and graduated from Proctor High School, with a life-long group of great friends. He joined the Minnesota Air Guard and was a jet engine mechanic. He also worked at the Minnesota State Highway Department where he met and then married his wife of over 50 years, Lynda (Solie) Berg. They had two children: Nikki and Craig. Manny and Lynda then purchased, and operated as partners, The Skyline Court Motel and Mobile Home Park. For over 25 years, they met and helped many people and had a variety of interesting interactions and experiences. Manny was also both secretary and then Vice President of the Duluth Hotel/Motel Association and a Board Member for the Quadna Association.
In his later years, he spent time at his lake home, winter visits to Florida, breakfasts with friends, and his favorite pastime, riding 4 wheelers--especially with his ATV Club, "The Wrinkled Riders."
Manny also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, who kept that twinkle in his eyes. He was fortunate enough to have several trips and adventures with his kids and grandkids and created many wonderful memories.
Manny was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Carl "Sheldon" Berg (Donna) and Clayton Berg (Joan), and his wife Lynda.
Manny is survived by his daughter, Nicole (Joel) Raymond, son, Craig Berg, his grandchildren Michael Berg, Nikole Vosika, McKeely and Corbin Berg and Ella Raymond. Nieces and nephews Elaine, Jason and Michael Erickson, Scott (Beth) Berg, Kristy (Paul) Schultz, and other special cousins and family.
Those who knew Manny will remember his sense of humor- he was always working toward a laugh. He was both kind and generous, giving to many different causes. Children, dogs and animals all gravitated towards him. Often people sought us out and told us "Your dad, Manny, is a really great guy!" We couldn't agree more. We know we were lucky to have him as our dad, Father-in-law, Grandpa, Uncle, and best of all- friend. He will be immensely missed.
