Manuel "Manny" DeCruz Jr.

Manuel "Manny" DeCruz, Jr., 79, of Salem, passed away after a long illness on Saturday, November 1, 2025. Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Manuel Sr. and Mae (Encarnacao) DeCruz. He was the beloved husband of Roberta (Rothman) DeCruz for 50 years.
Manny was a lifelong athlete, coach, and teacher with a deep passion for sports-especially basketball. He played, coached, and followed the game throughout his life and was known for his calm presence, steady guidance, patience, and love for his players and students. Over the years, he mentored countless young people, helping them find confidence, discipline, and joy through teamwork.
Those who knew Manny will remember his quiet humor, gentle nature, and kindness.
He is survived by his wife, Roberta; his family, Rachael DeCruz and Jeremy Levine of Somerville, and Sarah DeCruz and Chris Chapman of Ipswich; his cherished grandchildren, Caleb and Ava Chapman; and his sister, Kristen McKeon.
Visiting hours for Manny will be held at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, on Sunday, November 9th, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
