Manuel "Manny" Vidal, a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, passed away on February 27, 2025, in Vail, Arizona, at the age of 83. Born on October 3, 1941, in El Progreso, Guastatoya, Guatemala, Manny was known for his kind heart, quick wit, and unwavering dedication to those he loved.
Throughout his life, Manny found great joy in his career as an electronic technician with Hamilton Test Systems (United Technologies), a role he held from 1980 to 1990. He was a hard worker, proudly committed to his profession while also nurturing his many passions outside of work. Manny had a playful spirit, often delighting in watching cartoons, with his favorite, Tom and Jerry, bringing laughter and fond memories. His love for music resonated deeply within him; he played the piano, clarinet, and saxophone, often filling the home with beautiful melodies.
Manny's culinary preferences are lovingly remembered, particularly his fondness for Arby's Roast Beef Sandwiches and his daughter's tamales, which were enjoyed at family gatherings filled with laughter and love. His smile was infectious, spreading joy to all who saw it.
Family was everything to Manny, and his proudest accomplishments included marrying the love of his life, Carmen Vidal, in San Diego, California, where they shared 46 beautiful years together. He cherished the memories they created, and the love they built lasted a lifetime.
Manny is survived by his children, Maria Teresa Vidal-Metzger (Chris), Frank Vidal, Mary Vidal (Delvin Webb), and Cristina Mancera (Kevin); grandchildren, Erica, Jordan, Medardo Francisco, Mariah, Nathan, Ethan, Jazmyn, Vianca, Adan, Jayden, and Adriana; and great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Elena. He leaves behind several siblings, nieces, nephews, and many friends who will remember him for his warmth and loving spirit.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carmen Vidal and his parents, Francisco Vidal Moraga and Maria Petrona Portillo Almazan whose memory continues to live on in the hearts of all who knew them.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Manny's life. A visitation will be held at Martinez Funeral Chapels in Tucson on March 6, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, followed by a Rosary at 6:00 PM. A Mass will take place at St. Rita in the Desert's Main Church (in the back) in Vail on March 7, 2025, at 10:30 AM.
Manny Vidal will be dearly missed, but his legacy of love, kindness, and laughter will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
