Ms. Maple Lewis was born in Bolton, MS on December 12, 1932 to Emma Thomas and James Lewis. Both parents preceded her in death.
Ms. Maple accepted Christ at an early age at Champion Hill Baptist Church, Edwards, MS. She later joined Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in Mound Bayou, MS in 1949 and remained an active member until her peaceful departure on December 11, 2024 in Memphis, TN.
Her primary education was in the Champion Hill School system in Edwards, MS. She graduated from Bolivar County Training School in Mound Bayou, MS. She graduated with a degree in biology from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. She worked as a Registered Laboratory Technician in Chicago, IL and Boston, MA. Ms. Maple moved back to Mound Bayou and worked at the Delta Health Center as a Laboratory Technician. She also worked at St. Gabriel Mercy Center Thrift Shop for many years. However, her real passion in life was giving to others and loving her family.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Louise Mason, brothers, James (Red) Mason and LC Leach, one nephew, LH Mason.
Ms, Maples leaves to cherish her memories: five daughters she raised: Doris Mason, Mound Bayou, MS, Veronica Leach Henderson, Bolton, MS, Kelavor Lewis, Greenville, SC, Chewrita Lewis, Memphis, TN and Alycia Lewis, Houston, TX. Two granddaughters, Ebony Griffin, Jackson, MS and Ashley Lewis, Memphis, TN, five grandsons - Justin Kirby, Dallas, TX, Krame Semaj Lewis, Memphis, TN, James Lewis, New York, NY, Dexter Lewis, Houston, TN and George Wilder, Nashville, TN, ten great grandchildren: her beloved nieces - Mary Jane Mason, Mound Bayou, MS;, Velva Winters, Memphis, TN, Annette Mason, Mound Bayou, MS and Bobby Jean Love (Vertis), Olympia, WA, four nephews- L Leach, Jr. (Annie Mae), and Joe Perry, Bolton, MS, James Cody Mason, Mound Bayou, MS and Stevan Mason, Inglewood, California. She leaves behind a brother-in-law, Johnny Lewis and sister-in-law, Ernestine Leach of Bolton, MS.
She also leaves behing a host of cousins, great nieces, nephews, bonus grandchildren, family, and friends to cherish her memories.
