Marc Affholter Obituary
August 28, 1957 - January 23, 2026
Marc Douglas Affholter. Age 68 of South Rockwood.
Marc Douglas Affholter, a devoted partner, father, grandfather, coach, and lifelong member of the Wyandotte community, will be remembered for his dedication to family, sport, and service to others.
Marc grew up in Wyandotte, Michigan, where he was raised by his parents, John (Bud) and Donna. Wyandotte remained the foundation of his life, shaping the values of loyalty, discipline, and commitment that defined him.
Marc is survived by his only love, Christina, with whom he shared his life and heart with. Together they built a life rooted in love and partnership. He was a proud father to his children, Ashley, Amber (Michael), and AJ (Emily), and nothing brought him more joy than being "Papa" to his beloved granddaughter, Adriana, who meant the world to him.
He is also survived by his seven siblings: Dennis (Andi), Michael (Beverly), John (Linda), Jerry (Dianne), Tim (Tam), Patrick (Susan), and Kathy (Michael), along with many nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.
Marc was deeply involved in speed skating from a young age. He was an active member and eventual coach of the Wyandotte Speed Skating Club before continuing his career with the Wolverine Speed Skating Club. An accomplished athlete, Marc broke and held numerous records throughout his skating career. His passion for the sport extended beyond competition, as he went on to serve as Chief Referee of the Michigan Speed Skating Association, earning respect for his fairness, knowledge, and leadership.
Beyond speed skating, Marc dedicated countless hours to coaching his children's sports teams. He believed in showing up, teaching discipline, and encouraging young people to believe in themselves. Through coaching, Marc made a lasting impact on many children and families in the community, often without seeking recognition, but always leading by example.
Marc will be remembered for his strong sense of responsibility, his unwavering love for his family, and the countless lives he touched as an athlete, coach, and mentor. His legacy lives on through the family he cherished and the community he served so faithfully.
