Publish in a newspaper

Marc Bruce Hackett was born in Gary, Indiana on March 26, 1960, to Ann and William Hackett, Sr. Marc was the youngest of four children and lovingly called "Baby Marc" by the family. Marc was baptized and raised in the Lutheran Church.
Marc was a graduate of West Side High School, Class of 1978. He was on the swim team at West Side and received a swim scholarship to South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, South Carolina. Marc graduated with a Business degree from South Carolina State in 1983. Shortly after attending college, Marc joined the United States Navy, where he was recognized as a top performer. After leaving the Navy, Marc returned to Gary and worked in various jobs in the area, including as a swim coach at West Side High School.
Marc was the proud father of two daughters, Latacia and Ora Markee. He took great pride and joy in his girls, just talking about them brought a big smile to his face. Adored by his sisters, Elaine and Peggy, Marc remained close to them throughout his life.
Marc enjoyed watching sports, including football, track and field and the Olympics. Playing bid whist with family and friends was his favorite pastime. Marc also liked old school music, with Natalie Cole being one of his favorite artists.
After a short illness, Marc transitioned on October 29, 2025, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Marc was preceded in death by his parents, Ann Stewart and William Hackett, Sr., stepfather, William Paul Stewart, Jr., brother, William (Punchy) Hackett, Jr., and stepbrother, Charles Stewart.
He leaves to cherish his memory: daughters, Latacia (Eric) Clayton and Ora Markee Hackett; sisters, Rose Elaine (Richard, Jr.) Howard and Peggy Ann Williams; stepsister, Debra Adegbenro; stepbrothers, William P. Stewart, III, Michael (Darnise) Stewart and Walter Stewart; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 8, 2025, 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. with Homegoing Services 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. from Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana 46408.

My deepest sympathy to Peggy, Elaine, and family. I am sorry to hear about your brother Marc. I remember when he was in high school swimming for my husband, Coach Lee Robinson. Marc was the coach for my oldest son Kevin during his last two years of high school at West Side. May God bless you and keep you in his care.

I was so happy to see Marc at my brother's funeral in January. His presence really ment a lot to my family. Condolences to Elaine, Peggy, and family. He fought the fight, he won the race and is now resting with God. Our Prayers are with you All. Love from the Jakes family
