Marc Gilbert "Mickey" Halper, 67, of Weisenberg Township, Lehigh County, PA, and formerly of Orlando, FL, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 in his residence. He was the companion and devoted caregiver of the late Jilana "Jill" Clayson, who died on March 23, 2017.
Born in New York, NY, Mickey was the son of the late Robert and Helen (Goldberg) Halper. Having moved to Orlando, FL as a teenager, Mickey was a graduate of Winter Park High School. He then attended the University of Florida where he graduated and received his bachelor's degree in journalism.A talented videographer, Mickey spent his many hours capturing moments that mattered, weaving stories through the lens that will echo in our memories. Mickey was employed as a cameraman for several companies including, WJXT News in Jacksonville, FL, Easyriders Magazine, and CBS, covering The Green Bay Packers. His career in telecommunications was not just a job but a passion that allowed him to connect with people and convey their stories with authenticity and heart. His artistic eye and keen sense of detail brought a richness to his work that will be remembered long after his departure.
After moving to Pennsylvania, Mickey began working as a truck driver for Peters Brothers Trucking, Inc., Lenhartsville, PA, for several years and most recently, DM Truck and Trailer Services, Inc., East Earl, PA, and was looking forward to his retirement at the end of this year. Mickey was an avid motorcycle and Harley enthusiast and loved taking long rides with his friends. He enjoyed cooking and was famous for his delicious gumbo. He cherished the relationships he formed over the years with his local friends in PA, especially those at the Krumsville Inn.
Mickey is survived by his sister, Marcy (Halper), wife of Terry Wheeler, of Winter Park, FL, and their children, Jordan and Connor Wheeler; and companion, Cris Collingwood of Lancaster, PA. Mickey will be deeply missed by all who knew him and cherished the unique light he brought into the lives of family and friends.
A Celebration of Life and Bike Ride Tribute will be held at a future date. Mickey was dedicated to caring for his family, so much that he often overworked himself to make ends meet financially.
