Marc Sanford Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marc Alexander Sanford, a loving husband, father, "Poppy", brother, coach, and friend. Marc was born on June 7, 1968, in Wake County, North Carolina, and left this world on August 8, 2024, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, NC.
Marc led a fulfilling career as an engineer in telecommunications, where he dedicated years of service as a project manager. However, beyond his professional life, Marc's true joy came from spending time with his family and, in particular, his beloved grandkids - Easton, Aiden, and Archer.
Described as having a servant's heart, Marc's genuine love for helping others shone through in every aspect of his life. He was a mentor to many friends, a dedicated basketball player, and a coach. He loved the Lord and was an active member of Flint Grove Baptist Church. The role he cherished the most was being "Poppy" to his grandkids creating treasured memories with them that will forever be cherished.
Despite the sorrow of his departure, Marc was fortunate to be surrounded by his family as he passed away peacefully. The legacy of kindness and compassion that Marc leaves behind is a testament to the impact he had on all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Marc is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Angela Lemley Sanford, his son Jordan Sanford (Jessi), daughter Madison Hoover (Jonathon), brother Tim Sanford (Terri); and his grandchildren, Easton, Aiden, and Archer.
He is preceded in death by his mother Mary Holloway Sanford, special aunt and uncle Kathleen and Gene Grissom, and his grandparents Fred and Hazel Holloway.
He also leaves behind many dear and wonderful friends who will deeply miss his presence in their lives.
A visitation and memorial service to honor the life of Marc will take place on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home and Cremation in Gastonia, NC. The visitation will be held from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM, followed by the memorial service at 4:00 PM with Pastor Jeff Watts officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Shiners Children's Hospital. or Levine Children's Hospital
