Marcella J. Burney

Marcella J. Burney "Honaker", left her earthly home Wednesday, February 4, 2026, in Fritch, TX.

She was born to Ira F. Honaker and Serah E. Honaker "Taylor," in White Deer, TX, on July 27, 1947.

Ms. Burney was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Fritch. Until her retirement in 2012, she worked at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in Amarillo, TX, as a correctional officer.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Ira F. Honaker and Serah E. Honaker "Taylor," a brother, Ira Alec Honaker, and her husband, Marston J. Burney.

Surviving members left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Matthew Burney and wife Priscilla, of Hooks, TX, grandchildren, that she loved dearly, Taylor Burney and wife Tamara, of Bastrop, TX, Justin Burney and wifeWhitney, of Westville, OK, Chance and Elly Burney, of Durant, OK, as well as her great-grandchildren, she loved with all her heart, Lilly James, Adalynn Burney, Lainey Burney, Jaxson Burney, Paxton Burney, Aiden Burney, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and many other extended family members.

Ms. Burney will lie in state at Brown's Chapel , in Fritch, on Monday, February 9, 2026, from 10:00am until 5:00pm. The visitation will be come and go. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 2:00pm at Brown's Chapel, Fritch. Graveside service will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Borger.
