Marcella Maxwell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cremation Society of Kansas & Missouri - Prairie Village on Jan. 18, 2025.
Marcella Elaine (Dreyer) Maxwell, 72, of Kansas City, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Marcella was born on August 31, 1952, in Warrenton, Missouri to Arthur and Estelle Dreyer. She grew up in the St. Louis, Missouri area and graduated from Lindburgh High School. She excelled at math and played the clarinet in the marching band. After high school, she moved to the Kansas City area where she worked at Control Data and then later at Hallmark Cards.
On October 16, 1971, she married Randy Maxwell and they settled in Prairie Village, Kansas. Together, they accepted Christ as their Savior and affirmed their salvation through baptism. They enjoyed camping, gathering with friends and dancing, often wowing crowds with their skills on the dance floor. They raised five children and were married for 44 years.
Marcella was known for being outgoing, personable, organized and intelligent. She possessed an extraordinary memory, a great eye for detail and a playful sense of humor. She was a skilled seamstress and made many of her own clothes. She also found great joy in cooking, being involved in her church and was deeply committed to her role as a mother and homemaker.
She is survived by her children, Rebecca (Ryan) Burris, Christine (Brian Morris) Maxwell, Michael (Jessica) Maxwell, Geoffrey (Meredith) Maxwell, and Tyler Maxwell; grandchildren Caleb Burris, Augustus "Gus" Burris, Wyatt Maxwell, and Alissa Maxwell; and siblings Curt (Diane) Dreyer, Patricia (Robert) Brady, and Bruce (Christina) Dreyer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Randy Maxwell; her father Arthur Dreyer; and her mother Estelle Dreyer.
Marcella's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 10:00 am at St. John's United Methodist located at 6900 Ward Parkway, Kansas City, MO 64113. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at St. John's United Methodist and the healthcare team at North Kansas City Hospital.
