Marcella Jean Raikes passed away Sunday, February 23rd, 2025 at
the age of 94. Marcella was born May 18, 1930, in Fremont, NE the
first of six girls born to Orval and Catherine Thiessen. She is
survived by her four children: Susan Raikes Dye (Wes Dye),
grandson Michael McCain (Lexa McCain), great grandson, Kaden
McCain, Jim Raikes (Marie Raikes), grandson Alex Raikes (Lauren
Raikes), Jean Raikes Frew (Tom Frew), Jeff Raikes (Dale Wilsher
Raikes), grandsons Kirk Raikes and Devyn Raikes, two sisters,
Catherine Stephany and MaryJane Campbell, and many nieces,
nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents
(Catherine and Orval Thiessen), sister Pam (Thiessen) Heller, Colleen (Thiessen)
Jones, and Sharon (Thiessen) Heller.
Marcella grew up in Ashland, NE where she attended Ashland High
School. She was active in band and volleyball. She met her
husband, Bob, a.k.a "Bullet Bob" in Ashland and began dating
after Marcella graduated from high school. They married and lived
in Ashland for the birth of their first three children. Marcella was
experiencing health issues and moved to Colorado in1959 where
her fourth child was born in 1960.
Marcella will be remembered for her culinary skills, musical talent
(organ and piano), seamstress and crafts and love of her family.
She and her husband Bob were active parishioners at Sacred Heart
Of Mary since 1963.
Besides being a devoted wife and mother, Marcella worked as a
bank teller in Boulder, CO, while she supported her children in
numerous musical activities and sporting events.
