Marcella Ross Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Blaylock Funeral Home on Dec. 10, 2025.
Marcy Kim Ross was born on June 19, 1964, in El Paso, Texas, to Donald and Betty Roath. As a child, her fiery, loyal spirit grew as she fought with and for her five siblings. As most Roaths do, she grew up with a deep love of music and a passion for Christ, both of which continued for the rest of her life.

Marcy spent the vast majority of her life as a children's minister, where she was able to teach and inspire many generations. The children she ministered to will remember her as Miss Marcy, a woman who crafted silly song parodies, ate a worm in order to fundraise for African school children, and could magically soothe any crying baby. In addition, she will be remembered for her earnest conversations with children about the Lord and respecting their place in the kingdom of God.

At nineteen, she began what she believed was her greatest calling with the birth of her first daughter. Marcy had four children whom she loved fiercely and taught them the joy of Christ. Eventually, Marcy also became the grandmother to a total of thirteen grandchildren who affectionately dubbed her "Meemaw." As a mother, she will be remembered as a woman unafraid to laugh loudly in a movie theater or speak up when others would not. She cared deeply and advocated for those who often had no voice and stood firmly on her convictions. She made the best chicken and dumplings and was a tough opponent in most card games. She will also be remembered for her stern talking-tos and fierce dedication to her family in all seasons of life.

Most importantly, Marcy's children and grandchildren will remember her as a woman who radiated joy even when life's troubles were unrelenting. Through all the diaper changes, the phone calls from her adult children, the chemo treatments for both her husband and herself, the heartbreak, Marcy lived a life of infectious joy that shaped the attitudes of those around her. She was a force of nature, unlike most, and left a resounding effect on anyone in her wake.

She is survived by her children: Leslie Krischke and her husband Matt, Jonathan Tulcus and his wife Rosemary, Nathan Ross and his wife Jessica, and Devyn Hewitt and her husband Tristan; along with her beloved grandchildren: Cierra Rodriguez, Teara Rodriguez, Skyler Hooper, Aspyn Gonzales, Ella Krischke, Miles Krischke, Max Krischke, Evie Krischke, Harper Ross, Ezra Ross, and Declan Ross. She is also survived by her mother, Betty Roath, and her five siblings: Mark Roath and his wife Christine, Donna DuPont and her husband Fred, Gina Patterson, Ralph Roath and his wife Lisa, and Steve Roath and his wife Gayle.

She is preceded in death by her father, Donald Roath; her husband, Dale Ross; her brother-in-law, Ray Patterson; her nephew, Christopher Bell; and her beloved grandsons, Zachary Tulcus and Bryce Tulcus.

A funeral service for Marcy will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 10:00 am at the Coggin Baptist Church-Connect Center. A visitation will be held from 9:00-10:00 am prior to the funeral service. The intermittent will be at Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early, Texas.
