Marcella, better known as "Marcie" was born on September 12, 1934, in rural Newton, Illinois, the daughter of George Edward and Alene Carrie (Byrom) Fear. She married Herman Whalen on September 22, 1951, in Newton, Illinois. They celebrated 61 years of marriage until his passing on April 29, 2013.

Marcie worked for many years in local restaurants. Beginning with the original Home Café and the newer Home Café next to the Ford dealership on south route 130. As the years passed, she continued her restaurant days in the small lunch counter in the back of Brown's Drug Store, Rosey's Donut Shop and lastly the Burger Bar.

Marice was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Newton. She enjoyed dancing and always had a "sweet tooth" even to the end. Days before her passing she still wanted her coffee and donut. The girls of the Villas always made sure she had her coffee and donut.

Great Grandchildren – Hannah Loy, Trevor Loy, Kody Loy, Ellyn Burley, Kase Burley, Lynn Clough, Everett Adam, Colten Adam and Indee Adam
