Marcelles Bagby Obituary
On Monday, June 3, 2024, our beloved Marcelles Brian Bagby found peace in the arms of our Lord and Saviour and quietly stepped into eternal rest while surrounded by his family. Even at the young age of 37, Marcelles left a lasting impression on all who knew him, and his spirit will forever be a light in our hearts. Marcelles was born on October 5, 1986, in Norfolk, Virginia. He exhibited an adventurous spirit and a passion for life at an early age. He attended Green Run High School in Virginia Beach and excelled as a candidate in the Commonwealth Challenge Youth Academy Program.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, Marcelles served his country with distinction and integrity. His time in the military further instilled in him values of discipline, resilience, and camaraderie, which he carried into every aspect of his life. After his military service, Marcelles earned his associate's degree in culinary arts, further enhancing his culinary creativity and expertise. His cooking skills were more than just a profession; they were a way to bring his friends together. As a man of many talents, Marcelles also had an amazing eye for style and fashion and was a talented clothing designer. Marcelles's vibrant personality was unmistakable. He was known for his huge smile that could light up any room, his colorful sense of style, and his quick-witted sense of humor. His loud and infectious big laugh resonated in any room, especially when he would let out his signature full-belly laugh without holding back. He had a kind and generous heart and was always ready to lend a helping hand and share his warmth with those around him. Marcelles cherished the moments he spent with his loved ones, especially his godchildren, whom he adored and treated as his own. His love for them was unwavering, and he took great pride in being a supportive and caring godfather and friend.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Ronald Leigh Gross, Sr; his uncle, Ronald Leigh Gross, Jr; and his grandmother, Doris Baynes.
Marcelles is survived by his loving parents, Steven and Diedreá Allen; his devoted siblings, Nishae Bagby, Steven Allen, II, TeAirra Allen, Demetrius Allen, Milanah Bagby, and Julisa Bagby; his 4 treasured godchildren, Nityah, Julian, Khael, and Adelynn Campell; his grandmother, Gloria (William) Carter; his godmother Torina Carroll; his father, L'Mande S. Bagby: his grandfather, Clarence Bagby, Sr.; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly. As we mourn the loss of Marcelles, we also celebrate his blessed life. His legacy of love, laughter, and kind-heartedness will forever be cherished by those closest to him. His wings were ready, but we were not. Rest in peace, Marcelles.
