Marcia Lynn Allen, 78, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire. She successfully fought a courageous battle with colon cancer but ultimately succumbed to leukemia.
She was born on January 25, 1947, in Plymouth, Indiana, to Richard E. and Dollie Mae (Samuels) Ketcham. She graduated from West High School with the class of 1965. Marcia married Marvin O. Allen on June 26, 1965. They were blessed with two children, Christopher and Jason. Her children and granddaughter, Ashlyn, were the light of her life. She also had three great grandchildren, Oliver, Finn, and Wren, whom she loved spending time with.
She studied to be a paralegal at Indiana University South Bend, but her true passion was more creative. She loved decorating and was a very successful sales associate with Home Interiors for many years. She later started her own cleaning business and built a loving and loyal set of customers, whom she considered friends. While she built her business, she worked part-time at Wal-Mart—she enjoyed interacting and helping people so much that she stayed for over 25 years. She also started her antique business, Pickety Place, at her warm and beloved home of 50 years on New Road. She had a barn full of carefully curated Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls, composition dolls, many different types of strollers, as well as antique furniture.
Marcia was a kind and happy soul who spread love and joy to all within her sphere. She loved walking and playing with her two beloved “puppers”. She loved spending time decorating and taking care of her home and antique shop. She loved planting flowers in the Spring and mowing her yard and “fairy paths” in the summer. However, her favorite time of year was Christmas, and she always decorated with a passion. She shared her love of the holiday with her granddaughter, Ashlyn, whom she cherished.
Marcia is deeply missed by her family, which includes her sons Chris and Jason, along with Chris’ wife Marilyn and their daughter Ashlyn; Ashlyn’s two sons Oliver and Finn, daughter Wren, and husband Michael; siblings Nancy (Keith) Harbaugh, Lon (Nancy) Ketcham and Julie Ketcham as well as many nieces and nephews.
Marcia is preceded in death by her parents, Dollie and Richard Ketcham, her brother Larry and John Ketcham, as well as her sister Della Watson.
