Marcia Dworetzky Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 13, 2018.
Marcia F. Dworetzky, age 74, of Marietta, Georgia passed away on December 12 , 2018. She was born October 18, 1944 in Bronx, New York, only daughter of Isaac and Shirley Dworetzky. Her father, mother and brother Steven preceded her in death. Her nephews, Joshua and Brian Dworetzky, survive and live in California.

As a teenager, she appeared regularly on The Jack Spector Show, a weekly TV dance show. She graduated with honors from Science High School in the Bronx and then went on to earn a Masters Degree in Mathematics from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Upon graduation she joined the IBM Corporation in St. Louis as a Systems Engineer. In addition, her IBM career took her to California, Alabama and Georgia. She retired after 30 years at age 54.

Her retired life included gardening which led her to the Master Gardener Volunteers of Cobb County; after 10 years of service, she became a Georgia Lifetime Master Gardener. The Georgia Native Plant Society's rescue program also became a passion; she became a dedicated facilitator, helping others learn about native plants. Love of traveling the world took her to France, England, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Spain, Argentina, Chile, Germany, Greece, the Netherlands and Alaska. She was an avid reader, prolific quilter, collector of antiques, and even enjoyed tap dancing.

Growing up in the Bronx, she was a Yankee and Mickey Mantle fan but her true love was the Atlanta Braves. She was a self-proclaimed Atlanta Braves #1 Fan for over 40 years. She held season tickets for most of those years and rarely missed a game. She was beside herself with joy when the Braves gave her a wonderful final baseball gift by winning their division this year. Go Braves!
Her family of friends will miss her.
