Marcia Kessler Obituary

Marcia M. Kessler
1960 - 2026
East Longmeadow
Marcia Mitchell Kessler passed away at her home in East Longmeadow on February 19, 2026 after a courageous, years-long struggle with a debilitating illness. Born in Springfield at Wesson Women's Hospital on July 28, 1960, she was 65 years old. A life-long resident of greater Springfield, Marcia worked in medical supplies and as a beauty aesthetician.
Lovely both inside and out, she was a kind and generous soul, always ready to help her friends, always ready to bring joy to others, organizing birthday parties, baby and wedding showers, and giving succor to those in need. She had a beautiful singing voice and loved to sing. She also loved concerts, cooking for friends, and spending time at the beach, on Cape Cod, Nantucket, and the coast of Maine. But her greatest joy was being a mom, raising her two sons, Peter and Andrew, whom she adored.
Marcia is predeceased by her father Hugh Mitchell and her ex-husband and faithful friend Peter John Kessler. She is survived by her mother Sarah 'Sally' Mitchell, her son Peter Joseph Kessler and daughter-in-law Jess Covert; her son Andrew Mitchell Kessler and daughter-in-law Melissa Gentile; her beloved granddaughter Dahlia Kessler; and her loving siblings and their spouses, Sollace and Odko Mitchell; Rebecca and Kevin O'Shea; and Carter and Sandra Mitchell; and by her six nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be on Saturday February 28, 2026 at Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 Main Street, East Longmeadow MA, from 4PM to 6PM. All are welcome. A memorial service will be announced later this spring.
Memorial contributions can be made in Marcia's memory to the charity of your choice

What heart-breaking news, Marcia's mighty heart lost to so many who cared deeply about her. Even the few Nantucket summers I shared her company with her marvelous mother and her siblings remain vivid. Walks along the water, delight in the laughter of children; the glorious horizon tugging us forward. Especially to her force-of-nature mother Sally and my dear friend, her older brother, Sollace "Tim", and Rebecca and Carter: these inadequate words of sorrow but gratitude to have been in their lives.

Marcia was a truly sweet and caring soul, and her passing will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved her. Her sons were her greatest joy, but it was her granddaughter who held a special place in her heart. The love she had for her family was evident in every conversation we shared.
My sincerest condolences to Marcia´s family and friends. May your cherished memories bring you comfort and serve as a lasting blessing.

I'm saddened to read of Marcia's passing. Her first home was down the street from my mom. We became instant friends. We had children the same age and formed a neighborhood playgroup. As years passed, we lost touch, but ran into each other and it felt like time never passed. Marcia was a warm, friendly, kind, helpful and wonderful person. She will be missed.
