Marcia Anne Streicher (nee Volkema), 83, of Crown Pointe, IN passed away Thursday, December 22, 2022. Marcia was born in Holland, MI on December 18, 1939. Marcia had recently relocated to Vine Grove, KY in October 2022 to reside with family.
Marcia is survived by her husband of 65 years, Dale Streicher; four children, Clark (Amy) Streicher, Kimberly (Rudolph) Koester, Craig (Nadine) Streicher, Valerie (Kirk) McLane; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth Hunter, Kami (Jason) Leverette, Victor (Michelle) Larkin, Heather Streicher, Tori McLane, Sebastian McLane, Draven McLane; six great grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.
Marcia was preceded in death by her parents, Carl & Delia Volkema; two brothers, Carlton Volkema, James Volkema; and a grandson, Houston McLane.
Dale & Marcia were married in Holland, MI on May 24, 1957. They welcomed their four children into the world during the next six years and relocated to Cedar Lake, IN in 1969. A year later they moved to Crown Pointe, IN. Marcia was a homemaker while her children were young and then spent time as a private nanny for Dr. Daniel Motyka's family. In 1980 Dale & Marcia opened the Zip Food Store, later renamed Fancher Foods, in Crown Pointe, across from the Lake County Fair Grounds. Dale & Marcia operated the store until 1993 with Marcia serving up her homemade deli lunches to the St. Anthony's hospital staff, the employees of other surrounding businesses and to anyone else that stopped in hungry.
Marcia enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, league bowling, monthly bunco nights, cooking and baking. Marcia also loved collecting knick knacks, stuffed animals, and having fresh flowers on her dining room table.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 PM, Saturday, December 31, 2022 at Stithton Baptist Church, Radcliff, KY (A meal will follow the service).
