Marcia A. Tedford, 87, of Momence, IL, died on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at the Arc of Kankakee, in Kankakee, IL.
She was born on September 5, 1938, in Muncie, IN, the daughter of William J. and Mernice E. Valentine McGinty.
She married Jack L. Tedford on March 30, 1957, at St. Rose Catholic Church in Brodhead, WI. He preceded her in death on January 19, 2017.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Tyler and Nadine Tedford of Tuscumbia, AL, and Rufus and Jamie Tedford of Nashville, IN; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jackie S. and Randy Bruhn of Momence, IL, and Nance and William Curwick of Bradley, IL; two sisters, Bridget McGinty of Lake of the Hills, IL, and Kathryn Stoneberg of Kenosha, WI; her brother, Michael McGinty of McHenry, IL; 12 grandchildren, Rebecca Crocker, Benjamin Bruhn, Samantha Tedford, Elizabeth Wilkins, Patrick Tedford, Leigh Tedford, Jax Tedford, Jaclyn Bufford, Katelyn Lowman, Paul Lowman, Eliza Tedford and Oliver Tedford; and 18 great-grandchildren, Reink, Asher, Langley, James, Haley, Trevor, Theodore, Theresa, June, Virginia, Hadley, Harper, River, Walker, Willow, Ella, Faye and Zorrah.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Alyse Tedford, two sisters; Alice McGinty and Shelia Ray, and two brothers; Patrick McGinty and Arthur McGinty.
Marcia was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church and member of the Council for Catholic Women in Momence, IL. She was a stalwart supporter of the city of Momence, being actively involved in Momence Women's Club, Little Red School House, Momence Antique Car Club and Gladiolus Festival Flower Show. She was proud to be named Momence Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the year in 2009 and Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017.
Marcia was first elected as Momence Township Assessor in 1972, and continued to serve until her retirement in 2021. Marcia drove school bus for Redskin Motor Coach for many years.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., with the funeral service at 11 a.m., all on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Momence, IL. The Rev. Peter Jankowski will officiate. Interment will be at the St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Momence, IL.
Memorials may be made to the St. Patrick Catholic Church and/or Momence Honor Guard.
