Marcie Phillips Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Compassion Funeral & Cremation Services - Nashville on Jul. 17, 2024.
Marcie Phillips passed from this life on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Melvin & Juanita Burkardt, her brothers, Melvin & Donald Burkhardt, her sister Sandra Madden, grandson John Michael Biggs, and her granddaughter Kaci Hicks Bessire.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, John T. (Terry) Phillips; 6 daughters, Jeannie (Randell) Allen, Lisa (Johnny) Morgan, Tanaka (Robert) Hamilton, Helen (Jimmy) Hicks, Michelle (Richie) Phillips, and Terrie Lee (Steven) Phillips; 2 brothers, Frankie (Maria) Burkhardt & Kenneth (Terry) Burkhardt, longtime family friend that is like a sister, Roxie (John) Crowell; 25 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends.
Marcie was born in Memphis, TN and married her high school sweetheart in 1971. Together they raised 5 girls and welcomed many other children with open arms as a part of the family. Having never obtained a driver's license, her calf muscles were a topic of conversation often. She would walk anywhere she wanted to go if no one was around to drive her. She loved her friends and enjoyed any time she got to spend with them, she was quite sad when they moved to Clarksville and was unable to see Becky as often as she wanted.
Marcie enjoyed spending time at her Senior Groups, especially the bingo days. Some of her favorite times were getting to go play bingo or to the casino with her daughters. She was a whiz at marking those cards and would mark yours too if you weren't fast enough! Her personality and ability to have fun no matter where she was will be dearly missed.
Visitation with the Phillips family will be on Monday, July 22nd from 4PM until 7PM, then again on Tuesday July 23rd from 9AM until 11AM. The Celebration of Life will follow on Tuesday at 11AM, all at Western Hills Church, located at 7565 Charlotte Pike. Marcie's brother-in-law, Kevin Parsons will officiate the service.
Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Carney, Cody Morgan, Jacob Carney, David Michael Biggs, Lucian Hicks, Ethan Phillips, and Lance Phillips.
*Flowers will be accepted on Monday at Compassion between 8AM-1PM. All flowers after 1PM, can be directed to the church.
