Words will never be able to express the love and appreciation we have for all of you for what you did for Marcus that night.
Marcus John Anderle was born on April 26, 2005 in Gainesville, TX. We named him after his great grandpa Marcus Fuhrmann. He was the fourth of our five children. God blessed us with our first-born son on that precious day. Marcus was the biggest of all our kids at birth, and he never missed a meal due to his hefty appetite. Aunt Brenda recalls one of the many times Marcus stayed over at their house. As Brenda would tell you, she was lying in bed one morning when she got the feeling that someone was staring at her. When she opened her eyes, sure enough, Marcus was there patiently waiting for her to get up and make him some breakfast. Brenda quickly learned that whenever Marcus stayed over, she had better leave out a bowl and box of cereal so he could help himself.
Marcus was pretty quiet as a kid. A lot of the times, you would have to pry to get something out of him. There was one evening that we were out at my Uncle Pat's house. Pat had dug some postholes, and it happened to be dark when we were walking toward the pickup to leave. All of a sudden, we realized Marcus wasn't there. We found ourselves calling out to him expecting some sort of response, but we never heard anything. After a few minutes of looking, there he was in one of those postholes just staring up at us like nothing had ever happened.
Despite his quiet nature, Marcus had an ornery and curious side to him. One evening I was out building fence when I got a call from Amy saying I needed to come home. When I got there, she was mopping up water in the laundry room. The whole room was flooded. When I asked Amy what happened, she told me Marcus had stuck the water hose in the dryer vent. When we asked Marcus why he did it, his response was "I just wanted to see where the water would go." That's what happens when you cross an Anderle with a Bayer.
Marcus grew up playing football with his friends from kindergarten until he graduated from high school. The love he had for his friends definitely outweighed his love for the game. Although Marcus tried his hand at a few other sports, it was only because he wanted to spend more time with his friends. His friends say that he always had the biggest smile on his face and could make them all laugh with ease with his goofy personality.
Marcus's love for fishing started as soon as he could hold a rod and reel. This love only grew as he got older. One of our favorite ways to spend time as a family has always been fishing. Whether it be at the Chaffen, on Lake Texoma, or any body of water we could find. Marcus always seemed to be the one to catch the most fish, but he was always sweet enough to let Annie hold his fish for a picture when she wasn't catching any herself. The last few years, Marcus started going on Deano's annual fishing trip to the coast. He looked forward to this trip every year and in true Marcus fashion, formed a bond with every person there.
Marcus was eight years old when he shot his first buck with Deano. This was the first of many successful hunting trips between Marcus, Deano, Dillon, and Nolan. As he got older, Marcus got many opportunities to travel to Comanche to hunt Dwayne Weger's property. On one trip, Dwayne asked Marcus if he'd like to fly his plane. That same weekend, he learned how to drive a standard on an army jeep.
One of Deano's favorite memories with Marcus was a time when they were hunting on the Andre's. Marcus and I were in one blind and Deano and Dillon were in the other. I got a call from Deano saying the buck Marcus had been after showed up at his blind. Marcus and I got out of our blind as quick as we could and drove over to Deano's. We parked about 100 yards away, and Marcus was able to sneak into Deano's blind and shoot the buck. We were all so proud and happy for him. Marcus's life was much fuller because of the opportunities that Deano brought into it.
During his senior year, Marcus really started getting into golf. After he graduated and started working, most of his paychecks went towards new golf clubs and golf gear. It took a little practice and a few dents in the side of the shop, but Marcus quickly became a pretty dang good golfer. As one of his friends said, "he was the best golfer out of our friend group."
Marcus always had a strong work ethic. He tried his hand at a few different trades, but when he started working for Carl and Brandon Sicking he really found his passion. Marcus worked as an HVAC technician and was about to start taking classes at NCTC to become licensed in this trade. He was even beginning to buy his own tools and often talked about his future at S & S Heat and Air. He really looked up to Brandon and loved working beside him.
In September of 2023, Marcus joined the Muenster Jaycees. He always looked forward to his Thursday night meetings. He took pride in being a part of an organization that did so much for the community.
In November of 2023, Marcus became an uncle. Over the summer, Amy baby sat Della several days a week. Every morning when Karli came over to drop her off, Marcus was always eager to play with her until he had to leave for work. He was so good to her, and we have no doubt that he will be watching over her.
Around this same time, Marcus started dating his girlfriend, Kory. We know the time he had with her brought him so much joy and meant so much to him.
Marcus had a great love and respect for his grandparents. When they needed help with anything, they knew they could call Marcus. He was always Johnny on the spot and would often offer extra help on top of what was asked of him.
Although Marcus was younger than all his sisters, he taught them so much. To put it simply, they say that he was the prime example of 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoings but rejoices with the truth."
When we sat the kids down and told them that we were expecting another blessing, who we now know as Garrison, all of the kids had a different reaction. Marcus was four at the time. The first words out of his mouth were "Let's name the baby Tarzan." Obviously, Marcus didn't win the name battle, but he finally got a brother. He was the best role model for Garrison. Garrison will miss hitting golf balls in the yard, fishing, and just being with Marcus. We know that no one will be able to fill Marcus's shoes as a big brother, but myself, Nat, and Bryson are going to do the best we can.
More than anything in the world, Marcus loved his family. All of his siblings agree that he was definitely the golden child. He never started a fight. He was always there to comfort his brother and sisters if they had ever had a bad day. He never left the house without giving you a hug and telling you he loved you. Bailey says the last time she saw Marcus, he gave her a big long hug before walking out the door. Marcus was a precious young man. He was so soft spoken and had such a gentle spirit that showed in his beautiful blue eyes. None of us ever doubted for one second the love he had for us. All of our lives were better because he was a part of it.
We take comfort in knowing that grandpa Johnny and great grandpa Fuhrmann were there waiting to show Marcus a fishing hole that's better than any of us could ever imagine. What three better souls to have watching over our family. Rest in peace sweet Marcus. We love you.
"May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord let His face shine upon you and be gracious to you. May the Lord look upon you kindly and give you peace. Amen."
Marcus is survived by his parents: John and Amy Anderle; sister Karli McEwen and husband Nat McEwen of Muenster, sister Bailey Anderle of Muenster and fiancé Bryson Jackson of Windthorst, sister Annie Anderle of Muenster; brother Garrison Anderle of Muenster; niece Della McEwen of Muenster; grandma Annette Anderle of Muenster; grandparents Claude and Mary Bayer of Muenster; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
