Marcus Brackeen Obituary

Mr. Brackeen studied at Wesleyan University, Middletown, Connecticut from 1981 to 1985, majoring in Chemistry and minoring in communications. As a distinguished chemist, with a career spanning 38 years, he held numerous patents and authored multiple publications, leaving an indelible mark on the field. Beyond his professional achievements, Marcus found solace and inspiration in nature, often taking long walks in the woods. His passion for electrical engineering was evident in his enjoyment of tackling small projects around the house. He will be remembered not only for these contributions to science, but also for his love of nature and hands-on pursuits.
Mr. Brackeen is survived by wife, Yvette Theresa Brackeen; daughters, Cristina Theresa (Jaxson) Ross, Chaniece Theresa (Terry Chen) Brackeen; mother, Jo Anne Marie Brackeen; sisters, Susan Brackeen, Roselle Brackeen; nephew, Johnathon Thomas Brackeen and niece, Jennifer Brackeen Leonard.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, May 18th at Clements Funeral Chapel with Dr. Solomon Adeyemi officiating.
The family is being assisted by Clements Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. in Durham. Online condolences may be sent to www.clementsfuneralservice.com.

Marcus was a brilliant inventor and scientist. I will miss him. He was the kind of person who made me feel like I was meeting an old friend to have a few laughs over dinner whenever I traveled to NC for business. A truly special person who was called back too soon. RIP.
