It is with deep sorrow and immeasurable love that we announce the passing of Marcus Anthony Burston, who was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at the age of 54.
Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Marcus was a proud son of the city he loved. A graduate of Cooley High School, he went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Navy from December 1988 to June 1995. While stationed in Norfolk, Virginia, Marcus met the love of his life, Andrea. Their connection was instant and enduring. During his military service, Marcus received numerous commendations, including the Joint Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Unit Commendation, Navy “E” Award, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with Bronze Star, and the National Defense Service Medal.
After completing his service, Marcus returned to Detroit and began working at Ford Motor Company, where he built a respected career for 29 years. He was respected for his integrity, hard work, and loyalty and was looking forward to his well-earned retirement.
Marcus enjoyed life to its fullest, with a great sense of humor, compassion and unwavering spirit. He loved cheering on his Detroit Lions, listening to music, watching movies, and being surrounded by family and friends. He had a generous heart and was always there to lift others up, offering wisdom, humor, or a helping hand whenever it was needed.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Andrea Burston; his loving mother, Maxine Burston; his sisters, Kelly Hill and Debra Burston; and his brother, Robert Burston (LeCathy). He was preceded in death by his father, Davies Burston. He also leaves behind a host of cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and lifelong friends.
Marcus leaves behind a legacy of love, joy, and generosity. He will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
