Marcus Brooks Cox

On Monday, November 10, 2025, Marcus Brooks Cox was reunited with his loved ones who passed before him including his grandmother Maryann Lauk, godmother Sandra Hale, and daughter Jaelyn Laue.
Marcus was always saying yes to a new adventure. He loved exploring different places, from the hustle and bustle of New York City to the quiet solitude of the Boundary Waters. He jumped at any opportunity to experience new things, from getting spontaneous tattoos to road trips across the country with his partner, Lucas, to literally jumping out of a plane (more than once). He had many passions, including exploring the cosmos, political activism, shopping, music, and concerts. He especially loved his pop divas Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj, the latter of whom inspired the name of his beloved fur daughter, Minaj.
Marcus was a hard worker and loved his job as a process engineer at Integer. He was also pursuing further education in the engineering field. His curiosity and zest for life extended into many hobbies. What began with collecting house plants grew into caring for aquatic life, refurbishing furniture, and collecting records. He was also a multiple-year bags champion, naturally gifted at nearly anything he set his mind to.
Above all, Marcus cared deeply for the people around him-especially his life partner of more than twelve years, Lucas Laue. He was incredibly sentimental and expressed his love for his favorite people openly. He loved to laugh and had a smile that could light up any room. Marcus made everyone feel special who met him and was the glue that held his friend groups together.
To know Marcus was to love him. He will be deeply missed by his life partner Lucas Laue; his close family; his treasured chosen family of college friends who have been a part of his life for over 15 years; and many others whose lives he touched.
Carry Marcus In Our Hearts: A Celebration of a Life Filled with Love, Laughter, and Limitless Wonder will take place on Sunday, November 16th at Washburn-McCreavy Funeral Chapel in Edina. A visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m., followed by a service beginning at 3 p.m., and an informal gathering to share memories afterwards.
