Marcus Brigham Darger "Brig", beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2024, at St. George Regional Hospital due to congestive heart failure. Born on August 14, 1944, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Beth McDaniel Darger and David Brigham Darger, Brig experienced the loss of his mother at the age of 13. He was then lovingly raised by Grandma Lizey.
Brig and Margo were married in 1969 and sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1971. Brig had seven children: Kelly (Dave), Lori (Rick), Jared (Heather), Mark (Dee Ann), Robert (Angie), Susan (Greg), and Shannon (Josh). Brig worked as a Hazmat Captain and retired from the Salt Lake City Fire Department. His brother Brent also worked for the department, and Brig and Margo shared a close bond with Brent and his wife, Kathy.
Brig loved and cherished the time golfing with the boys. He particularly enjoyed visiting the family's mining cabin at the Silver King Mine and camping trips to American Fork Canyon. Breakfast gatherings were a favorite tradition, especially when enjoying his signature "Dr. Darger omelet." His playful spirit shone through in his tradition of sharing cookies from his special cookie jar, which said, "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the cookie jar."
Family was very important to Brig, as he came from a large family with many brothers and sisters. A famous phrase he always said was, "You better watch out; I have more brothers than you have friends." He leaves a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion, cherished by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who lovingly called him "Papa."
For 23 years, Brig resided in Toquerville, Utah, enjoying the peaceful community.
His grandkids include: Aleece (Tom), Derek (Jessica), Sidney (Aislyn), Joshua (Mackenzie), Rebecca, Brooke (Keegan), Braydon, Jack, Bryce, Tanner, Matt, Londyn, Sam, Carter, Meridian, Winter, Thor, Zachary (Madisyn), Conner (Peyton), Colton, Brielle, Teagan, Drew, Gavin, Devin, Will, Gram; and great grandkids: Aiden, Emmett, Afton, Dusti, Lizzie, Xander, Finn, Riley, Elliot, Callum
Funeral services will be on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., with a viewing from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., at the Toquerville 1st Ward Chapel, 63 North Toquerville Blvd., Toquerville, UT 84774. Marcus "Brig" Darger Service Program
