Marcus Douglas Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 27, 2025.
Marcus Douglas Sr., 46, received his reward of rest on Monday, October 20, 2025, at Mainland HCA Hospital. Marcus was born on July 17, 1979, to Floyd Douglas Jr. and Ronna K. He continued his education through the Galveston Housing YouthBuild Program, where he learned valuable construction and carpentry skills. Marcus was very talented and worked as a train operator, maintenance staff at an apartment complex, custodian at Moody Gardens and a houseman at the Tremont House.
Marcus worked until his health began to fail. Durning his free time, he liked showing off his cooking skills, being a mechanic, an excellent handyman, constant jokester and enjoyed being a DJ for his family and friends. Marcus was a loving companion, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was a God-fearing man who was loved by many.
Marcus was preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandparents Annie Mae Thompson and Aaron Metrue Thompson; paternal grandparents Floyd Douglas Sr., Pearline Hockley, and Ruby Douglas; brother Floyd Douglas III; nephew Floyd Douglas IV; aunts Lillie Holloway, JoAnn Mickens, Frances Shankle, and Mary Wade, Mary Jones; uncles James Thompson, Jeff Douglas Sr., Kenneth Douglas, and Thomas Douglas; close cousins Jamal Simpson, Walter Henderson, Jeff Douglas Jr., Patrick Moore, Ervin Hayes, Randy Simpson Sr., and Randy Simpson Jr.; and stepfather John Rhoads.
Marcus leaves to cherish his memories: his son Marcus Douglas Jr.; daughter Tenille Phillips; grandson Brycen Douglas; devoted and loving companion Chalina Stromile; sisters ToRhonda Douglas, Alexis Scott, Demetria Davis, Liz Hart, Jamilia Allen, and Cathy Chachere; brothers Broderick Davis, Anthony Miller, and Floyd Graves; stepsons Aldrick ""Deuce" Stromile II and Aldrick "Trey" Stromile III, bonus kids, Amber Hibbitt, Rodney Bethany, Nicholas Phillips, Amanda Leubano, Paul Leubano; close friends to the mother of his son Rhonda Hibbitt and the mother of his grandson Ebony Spiller; devoted nieces Dajhanique Douglas, Angel Douglas, and Almeatra Douglas; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends. He was deeply loved by many and though there are too many to list, his family and friends will forever hold him close in their hearts.

"I miss you already, Pawpaw. Thank you for teaching me, loving me, and being the best Pawpaw in the world. I love you so much. You were my best friend. I am going to miss calling you and talking about anything, playing our game, and trying to workout with you, even when I couldn't keep up. You always made me laugh and feel special. I will never forget you. I love you forever." –Brycen
Daughter
You had a heart so kind and wise, a smile that lit the day. When I needed someone the most, you always found the way. You gave with love, you stood with strength, with patience, faith, and care. And though you're now with God above, I feel your present there. You showed up for me all my life, through joy, storm, and pain. And one sweet day, I will see you again, Dad, when heaven calls my name.
"Fear not for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am God, I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand."
