Marcus Lancelot Keene age 94, a resident of Baton Rouge, went to Heaven on November 22, 2024. He was cherished by many and left behind wonderful memories. Marcus served in the Korean war and retired in 1990 from the United Stated Army and served as a Lieutenant and Colonel.
He was a graduate of Texas A&M with a degree in Chemistry and retired from Rubicon Chemicals as their head chemist. His passion was spending summers camping and trout fishing in Taylor Lake, Colorado. During the course of his life, he shared his love for the Lord with various roles at Maplewood Baptist, Laurel Lea, and Jefferson Baptist Church.
Marcus was survived by two children, Cynthia Newman and Robert Keene; one sister Sheila Lyons; two grandchildren Melissa Newman and Mark Newman and wife Bridget Newman; two great-grandchildren, Conner Newman and Paisley Newman. He was also survived by many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and various nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Frances Keene and one son, Mark Keene; daughter-in-law Rachel Keene; son-in-law David Newman; father Robert Marcus Keene; mother Mona Keene; brother Harry Keene; sister Frances Lawrence and many other relatives.
Visitation will be held at Jefferson Baptist Church, 9135 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge on Thursday, December 5, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. In lieu of flowers please make donations to The Gideons International (www.gideons.org/donate) in Marcus Keene’s name.
