Marcus W. Wiggins

Marcus Wayne Wiggins, 70, peacefully passed away in his home on the morning of November 26, 2025, after a hard-fought, courageous battle with cancer and Parkinson’s Disease.

Mark was born on January 15, 1955, to Hollis and Delores Wiggins in Gatesville, Texas. He and his three brothers, Ricky, Brad, and Sam, grew up in Goldthwaite, Texas.

On May 28, 1976, Mark married Frances Anne Long. After college they settled in New Braunfels, and became the proud parents of Laura Leigh on May 12, 1981. Mark was an attentive father who passed on his many good qualities and a love for growing plants, always working hard, and making jelly and pickles. Laura’s love and appreciation of music is a result of listening with her daddy to his albums each night before going to bed.

A responsible hard worker all his life, Mark was employed for over thirty-five years by Precision Dental Lab in San Antonio as a talented technician and supervisor. He was appreciated, respected, and loved by his boss and colleagues. He provided humor, and lively conversation as everyone worked to create a quality product.

Mark was a man of remarkable character. Kind, patient, and humble, he touched the lives of everyone who knew him. A loving husband, caring father, and cherished family member, he will be fondly remembered for his courage, loyalty, and unwavering commitment to those he held dear. Mark’s wonderful sense of humor and gentle, playful spirit brought smiles to all around him - Everyone loved Mark!

Mark began his battle with a very rare cancer in 1994. He fought with determination and unwavering faith and courage throughout the years. God’s miracles allowed him to survive a very complicated head and brain surgery, multiple rounds of radiation, and experimental chemotherapy. Additional surgeries and a seizure disorder followed in years to come. A lasting result of the initial surgery was his loss of smell, for which Mark remarkably chose to identify the positives rather than lamenting the negatives. As a result of the traumas to his brain, Mark developed Parkinson’s Disease approximately five years ago. He never complained of his gradual loss of independence, and he provided an exemplary example of determination, resilience, and perseverance.

Mark is survived by his loving wife, Frances, his cherished daughter, Laura, brother Ricky and wife Royce Ann, and brother Brad, sister-in-law Peggy Hammond and husband Bruce, and bother-in-law Bryan Waggoner and extended family members and friends who were fortunate to share in his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hollis and Delores Wiggins, his in-laws Robert and Louise Long, his brother Sam, his sister-in-law Sue Waggoner, and brother-in-law Bob Long.

A memorial service to celebrate Mark’s life will be held at the Schertz Funeral Home on Friday, December 12th, at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hope Hospice, 611 N. Walnut Avenue, New Braunfels, TX 78130.

One of Mark’s favorite “funeral” songs was “Go Rest High on That Mountain” by Vince Gil. The lyrics are certainly applicable to Mark, “Your life on earth was troubled and only you could know the pain…Your work on earth is done. Go rest high on that mountain!” We are confident Mark is now resting comfortably and is surrounded by a profound sense of peace. He’s pain-free and enjoying long-awaited conversations with loved ones as he pets Maggie, Hannah and Itty Bitty! He can now smell the wonderful fragrances and appreciate the beautiful music! He is Home, high on that mountain.
