Maretta Collins

Maretta Collins, age 81, of Akron, Alabama, passed away on March 20, 2026.

Maretta was a woman who lived her life with honesty, strength, and love. Known for being upfront and speaking the truth no matter the circumstances, she was someone you could always count on to tell it like it is. Her sincerity and bold spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

She found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. Maretta loved shopping and spending time with those she held dear. Her greatest love, however, was her family and her church family, who meant the world to her. She cherished those relationships deeply and created bonds that will continue to live on in the hearts of many.

Maretta leaves to cherish her loving memory her daughter, Audrey J. Beverly; her sons, Gene A. Beverly and Malik O. Green; her brothers, Johnnie Collins and Jimmy Lee Collins; and her sister, Brenda Bishop. She is also survived by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many extended family members and friends.

Maretta will be remembered for her strong voice, her loving heart, and her unwavering devotion to the people and faith she held close. Her legacy of truth, love, and resilience will live on in all who knew and loved her.
