Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lindsay-Jobe Funeral Home, Inc. - Harrison City on Jan. 27, 2026.
Margaret M. Monroe (Groza), age 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 23, 2026, at St. Anne Home in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. Margaret was born and raised in Pittsburgh where she also raised her children. She found joy in knitting, drawing, sewing, canning/baking, traveling, and tending to her expansive flower gardens lined with daylilies, pursuits that reflected her patient hands and artistic spirit. Curious, witty, and known for speaking her mind, Margaret was committed to learning throughout her life. She encouraged her children and grandchildren to explore their interests, value education, and contribute positively to the community. Margaret's faith was central to her life. She served for many years as a Eucharistic Minister at Allegheny General Hospital and volunteered at the Vincentian Home. She was baptized at St. Boniface and later became a devoted member of St. Sebastian and St. Barbara Churches. Her affiliation and contributions to the well-being of parishes extended worldwide. Margaret will be remembered for her faith, her generosity, and the love she shared so freely with her family and all who knew her. She is survived by her children, Lynda Risnear (Steven), Laura Laybourn, and Edward Monroe, Jr. (Soraya); and her six grandchildren, Michael (Mercy) and Christopher Risnear, Caroline and Jeanie Laybourn, Kaelan and Amalya Monroe. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 7, 10:00 A.M. at St. Barbara Church, Harrison City, PA, with luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Vincent Archabby https://saintvincentarchabbey.org/. To send online condolences please visit www.Lindsay-Jobe-FuneralHome.com.
