Margaret Ann Ankenman passed away at her home in
Tomball, Texas on December 23, 2024. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Fred Norman Ankenman III and her parents, David C. Wilson and Margaret Ella Wilson. Born on January 4, 1938, Margaret Ann is survived by her two children, Lane Norman Ankenman and Melissa Lea Gautier, her beloved granddaughter Quincy Elizabeth Gautier, and her two younger brothers, Brent Wilson and Charlie Wilson.
A native Houstonian, Margaret Ann and her family were members of Baptist Temple church in The Heights. She attended Hamilton Junior High School, where she was a cheerleader and president of her sixth grade class. At John H. Reagan Senior High School, she was a member of the Red Coats drill team, May Fete, and queen's court of The Heights' Lions Club.
She was proudly employed by The University of Texas in Austin as the assistant secretary to the chancellor for two years, followed by employment at Humble Oil & Refining Co. as the secretary to the area geophysicist. Later, she worked in the Klein Independent School District's public relations office as a photographer for school sports and events.
A devoted mother, she attended all of her children's activities and games at school-sponsored events and was quick to offer her creative abilities when needed. She always volunteered to be a room mother of her children's classes.
She started her own floral business–primarily focused on weddings–which enabled her to serve others with her many gifts and eye for design. She retired as a teacher workroom aide at Kleb Intermediate School in KISD where she had many friends who enjoyed her bright smile, abundant energy, and bubbly personality.
Margaret Ann and Norman were members of South Main Baptist Church. She appreciated God's beautiful hand in nature and loved gardening, being outdoors in the sunshine, flowers, birds, and animals of every kind–tenderly raising baby squirrels and birds fallen from their nests and rescuing pets who had lost their way.
Margaret Ann's sparkling blue eyes and gregarious personality will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Visitation with family and friends will be Monday, January 6 from 11:00am-12:30pm in Asbury Hall in The Harvest building at The Woodlands Methodist Church, 2200 Lake Woodlands Drive, The Woodlands, TX. A private committal service will follow that afternoon at Klein Memorial Park in Tomball.
