Margaret Bisson

Margaret was born May 27, 1939, in Grantsburg, WI to Ray and Vera Chelmo. She died November 16, 2025, in Anoka, MN at the age of 86 years. Preceded in death by husband of 62 years, Melvin (Tony) Bisson, Daughter Carrie, her parents and siblings, Nancy Callendar, Carol Rae Chelmo, Mike Chelmo, Larry Chelmo and Rich Chelmo.

Survived by Daughters Naomi Helm (Greg Parker) and Colleen Pitleck (Tom); Granddaughters Abbey Dobratz (Jeremy) and Caitlin Erickson (Reid); Step Grandchildren Claire and Andrew Pitleck; Great Grandchildren Odin, Kieran, Ezra and Mila Dobratz and Mazie and Brooks Erickson and lifelong best friend Liz Horton.

Margaret and Tony were married on September 27, 1958. Margaret was a stay-at-home mom for many years while raising her three daughters. She had a lifelong love of sewing and quilting, making clothing for the girls and quilting with family.

She returned to the workforce in 1982, completing wedding dress alterations for Bjorkman's and later Shafer's Bridal in downtown Minneapolis. She later worked for Sew What Alterations in White Bear Lake.

Margaret was a longtime member of Salem Lutheran Church in North Minneapolis. She and the family volunteered for many years at the Salem Lutheran Church Dining Hall at the Minnesota State Fair.

In recent years she was a member at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Brooklyn Park, MN, where she was an active participant with the Quilting Group, making and donating quilts to the VA and others in need.

Margaret was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Family was everything to her. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and watching the kids grow. On her last day, she was able to share her love with each of them before passing.

Services will be held at Prince of Peace, 7217 W Broadway, Brooklyn Park, MN on November 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be one hour before the service; lunch will follow. A live stream of the service can be accessed at

Private burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on November 26, 2025.
