Margaret Anne "Sami" Blatchford
April 19, 1948 – September 3, 2025
Margaret Anne Blatchford, lovingly known as "Sami", passed away peacefully at her home in Carver on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, with her devoted husband of 49 years by her side and surrounded by her loving family. She was 77.
Born in Milford, Massachusetts, on April 19, 1948, Margaret was the daughter of the late John T. Shea and Barbara F. (McNaughton) Shea, and the beloved stepdaughter of the late Meredith Shea.
Margaret shared a beautiful marriage with her husband, Peter Blatchford, whose love and companionship were the foundation of her life. She was the proud and incredibly supportive mother of Kerri (Blatchford) Mazerall and her husband Scott, and the adoring "Mimi" to her granddaughters, Riley Shea and Skylar Rose, who brought her immeasurable joy. To them, she wasn't just a grandmother-she was "the best Mimi in the world," their biggest cheerleader in every dance recital and performance, and their constant source of love and encouragement. Among her greatest accomplishments and joys in life was being both a dedicated dance mom to Kerri and a proud dance grandmother to Riley and Skylar, roles she embraced wholeheartedly.
She is also lovingly remembered by her siblings David Shea and Laura Littlefield, many nieces and nephews, and her dearest life-long friend, "Auntie Patti," who was like a sister to her. She was predeceased by her beloved big brother, Douglas Shea, who held a special place in her heart.
Margaret lived life to the fullest and dedicated herself to both her family and community. She worked for many years as an office manager with E.T. Reardon Associates, cared for children in her home daycare, and shared her warmth with colleagues at Talbots in Lakeville. At South Meadow Village, she gave countless hours of her time and energy, joyfully running the White Elephant Barn and fostering a sense of friendship and togetherness among neighbors.
Margaret will be remembered for her vibrant spirit and her incredible devotion to her loved ones. To her family, she was not just a wife, mother, grandmother, and sister-she was, and always will be, "the best Mimi in the world," and her legacy as a devoted dance mom and dance grandmother will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
Services for Margaret will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cranberry Hospice, 36 Cordage Park Circle, Plymouth, MA 02360
