Peter A. Blatchford
January 31, 1935 – September 8, 2025
Peter A. Blatchford passed away peacefully at his home in Carver on Monday, September 8, 2025, with his loving daughter by his side. He was 90.
Born on January 31, 1935, Peter was the son of the late Ralph and Louise Blatchford.
Peter shared a beautiful 49-year marriage with his beloved wife, Margaret "Sami" Blatchford, who passed away just days before him on September 3, 2025. Together, they built a life rooted in love, family, and service. He was the devoted father of Kerri (Blatchford) Mazerall and her husband, Scott, of Carver, and the adoring "Bampy" to his granddaughters, Riley Shea and Skylar Rose, who brought him immeasurable pride and joy. Some of his happiest moments were spent watching them grow, celebrating their accomplishments, and creating cherished memories with them.
He is also lovingly remembered by his brother Lynd Blatchford and predeceased by his sister Kathleen Blatchford.
Peter was raised and educated in Milton, graduating from Milton High School. He went on to study at Tufts University, Boston University, and Northeastern University. A proud veteran, he served with the U.S. Army in Panama during the Korean conflict.
His professional life reflected his dedication and leadership. Peter retired from Partners Healthcare System, where he served as Director of Treasury Administration and Treasurer of Massachusetts General Hospital. Afterward, he continued to lend his financial expertise as Executive Director of the Massachusetts Biomedical Research Corporation.
Peter's commitment to service extended far beyond his career. He volunteered with the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners Advisory Committee and served the town of Carver as Vice Chairman of the Finance Committee, Chairman of the United Parish Finance Committee, and a member of the Marcus Atwood House Trustees. He also contributed as an election worker and temporary clerk in the Carver Selectman's office. In his later years, Peter gave his time generously as Treasurer at South Meadow Village, where he and Margaret made their home, forming lasting friendships and remaining deeply engaged in community life.
Reunited with his beloved wife Margaret, Peter will be remembered for his devotion to family, friends, and community. He lived his life with warmth, kindness, and integrity, leaving behind a legacy of love and service that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Services for Peter will be private.
