Margaret Boardman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tippecanoe Funeral & Cremation Services on Mar. 1, 2026.
Margaret H. "Bunny" Boardman passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026.

She was born on August 24, 1924, in Camden, Indiana, to Frank and Esther Hedderich. From an early

age, Margaret demonstrated dedication and achievement. In 1942, she was named a 4-H

Achievement National Champion, receiving her award from the Secretary of Agriculture on behalf of

the President of the United States.

Margaret graduated from Purdue University in 1946 with a degree in Home Economics. During her

time at Purdue, she was actively involved in Alpha Chi Omega, sang in the University Choir, and was

employed by radio station WBAA-experiences that reflected her enthusiasm for service, community

and music.

On January 29, 1949, she married Dr. Thomas M. Boardman. Their life together included travel with

the Navy before they ultimately settled in Lafayette, Indiana, where they built lasting friendships and

deep community ties.

Margaret was a member of Central Presbyterian Church, where she also served as an Elder, offering

her leadership and faith in service to others. She found great joy in golf, bridge, and time spent with

friends, especially during years shared between Lafayette, Indiana, and Naples, Florida. She was the

1978 Lafayette Country Club Golf champion and scored a hole-in-one in 1992

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Boardman; her siblings, Carolyn, Fred, and Paul;

and grandson, Ryan Momsen.

Margaret is survived by her children: Mark Boardman (Patty) of Avon, Indiana; Sue Suttles (Buddy) of

Maricopa, Arizona; and Scott Boardman (Gretchen) of Bald Head Island, North Carolina. She is also

survived by her grandchildren: Kip Momsen, Kellie (Momsen) Oxee, Cory Momsen, Rachel

(Boardman) Scott, and Lauren (Boardman) Haynes.

"Bunny" will be remembered for her warmth, lifelong friendships, and the quiet grace with which she

lived her life.

A memorial service will be held at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens Chapel, on Monday, March 9th with

visitation for family at 11:30 am, and friends starting at noon. Interment will follow the services.
