In Loving Memory of Margaret Vernell Rushton Boykin

Margaret Vernell Rushton Boykin was born on November 19, 1949, in Florence, South Carolina, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Mack and Sarah Tollison Rushton. A woman of deep faith, Margaret accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was a devoted member of several church communities throughout her life, including Trinity Full Gospel Church in North Carolina, The Sanctuary Church in Evans, Georgia, and Journey Sherwood in Augusta, Georgia.

Margaret built a meaningful career in food services, working with both the Richmond County Board of Education and the VA Hospital. Her dedication and work ethic were evident in her 25 years of service before her well-earned retirement from the VA Hospital.

She gave generously of her time and talents, serving as a board member of the Comfort House in Augusta, GA. Margaret had many passions — she found joy in baking and catering, crocheting, and fishing — but her greatest passion was people. With a heart as warm as her smile, she never met a stranger.

Margaret was preceded in death by her beloved parents, her husband Steve Boykin, and her son Eddie Mack Logan.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories in the hearts of those who knew her. She is survived by her loving daughter, Shannon (Michael E.) Willis of Augusta, GA; her devoted sister, Ann Parker of Bath, SC; god children, Roy (Heather) Searles, Mark Terry, Tony Smiley, Michael Myles, Sr., Allen (Lisa) Boykin, Doris Searles, and Sandra Collins; god sisters, Frances Spicer, Carolyn Jackson, and Dee Smitherman; and a host of nieces, nephews, other godchildren, god-grandchildren, and dear friends who will forever carry her spirit with them.
