Margaret Mary “Peggy” (Brennan) Commane (81) of Westwood passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on March 17th after a brief illness.  She was one of nine children born in Brookline, MA on June 15, 1942 to the late Martin and Mary (O’Leary) Brennan. Peggy was a 1960 graduate of St. Mary of the Assumption High School in Brookline and went on to work as a secretary in Boston’s Financial District. In 1965, Peggy married the love of her life, the late Alphonsus Commane, a true Irish gentleman from County Clare and she became a full-time mother to her children.  Even through the many trials of life, Peggy and Al’s love story was inspiring and they remained in love until the day God took them home. Family was of utmost importance to Peggy. She and Al were known for their gift of hospitality and often hosted large gatherings with family and friends over their many years together. Peggy was also a “history buff” and enjoyed traveling and was blessed to go on many trips with Al and her children.

Peggy adored her family and was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Alphonsus Commane and is survived by and will be dearly missed by her four devoted children; Melinda Crowley of Walpole, Rosemarie Galley of Westwood, Karen Davis and her husband Jay of Foxborough, Alphonsus Commane Jr. and his wife Patrica of Westwood; ten adoring grandchildren; Michaela (and Aaron) Quixote, Ryan (and Samantha) Harding-Commane, Aileen (and Michael) Smith, Darragh O’Halloran, Sabina Crowley, Ashleigh Galley, Ciara Davis, Aisling Davis, Brenna Davis and Liam Commane; as well as six beautiful great grandchildren; Cora, Arlo, Fionnula, Alphonsus “Alfie”, Ronan and Eamon.  Peggy is also survived by her siblings; Mary Carroll, Madeline McKay, Barbara Long and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the Holden, Dunn and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St., Westwood on Thursday March 21st from 4-7pm.   A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday morning March 22nd at 10am in St. Margaret Mary Church, 845 High St., Westwood.
