Margaret C. Eames, affectionately known as "Cris," passed away on February 14, 2026, in Topeka, Kansas, leaving behind a legacy filled with love, warmth, and unwavering dedication to her family and community. Born on January 7, 1943, in Holton, Kansas, she grew up instilled with strong values and a determination that would carry her through a remarkable life.
Cris devoted more than 40 years of her professional life as an advertisement liaison for the Topeka Capital Journal, where her spicy personality and caring approach made her a cherished colleague. She also gave her time and compassionate spirit to the children of her community, working as a Pediatric Nurses Aide at Stormont Vail for several years, showcasing her nurturing side that touched so many lives.
A graduate of Silver Lake High School, Cris was known not only for her work ethic but also for her hobbies. She delighted in baking, tending to her garden, and working on puzzles. A devoted fan of daytime dramas, she found joy in watching "The Bold and the Beautiful" and "As The World Turns," often refusing to allow any distraction from these beloved shows.
Cris’s vibrant personality resonated deeply with everyone around her. Those who knew her would describe her as sassy, loving, and incredibly caring, someone who would give you the shirt off her back in times of need. Her reliability and hard-headed nature endeared her to friends and family alike; she was a steadfast rock in their lives.
Among her proudest accomplishments were her family and her beloved pets. She cherished her role as a wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, and she poured her love into every relationship. Cris leaves behind her dedicated husband, Carl Eames, her daughter Carla Hollis, and her sons Robert Eames and Carl (Sheryl Norman) Eames Jr., along with Brian Tompkins. She is survived by her sisters, Joy Anderson and Mary Anderson, her brother, Jim (Barb) Anderson, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were blessed to call her "Mom" and "Grandma."
Cris is preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Anderson, her mother, Almira Anderson (Schwarz), and her daughters, Shelly Tompkins and Cindy Tompkins. She now joins her brother, Lynn Anderson, her sister, Elaine Anderson, and her sister-in-law, Marilyn Anderson.
As we remember Margaret C. Eames, let us carry forward her spirit of kindness, her spicy zest for life, and the love she shared so freely. She may have left this world, but her incredible legacy will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Funeral Service will take place at 10:00am Friday February 20, 2026 at Parker Price and Davidson Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest following the service at Topeka Cemetery.
