Margaret Fallon

Margaret Fallon, (nee Meyerhoff) age 93, of River Edge, formerly of Wood-Ridge and Elmhurst, Queens, passed away at Villa Marie Claire Hospice in Saddle River on September 25. She was the devoted wife of the late James Fallon and the beloved mother of her five children: Robert (Mary), Judith, Patricia (Kevin Kress), Theresa (Matthew Salzman) and William. She adored her three grandchildren; Jean, Alison, and Mairead Kress. She was predeceased by her sister Rose Teague and her brother Lawrence Meyerhoff. Margaret retired from her position as a bookkeeper with the Bergen County Surrogate's Office in 1999. Prior to that position she had worked many years in the same capacity for the Queens Borough Public Library. She was a lifelong avid reader. Margaret was a talented gardener; she spent hours planting and pruning well into her seventies. She was an excellent cook who enjoyed hosting Sunday dinners for three generations well into her eighties. At 90 she was still sewing beautiful quilts; her favorite projects were baby quilts. Margaret was active in the many parishes she worshipped in over the years. She held many fond memories of participating in the school and parish life of St. Bartholomew's in Elmhurst, New York. She especially enjoyed making costumes for the annual plays. In lieu of flowers, Margaret's family asks you to consider a donation to The Residence at St. Peter's. Margaret spent her last years there and was very happy in their warm and welcoming community. Visiting hours will be Sunday, September 28 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at Volk Leber Funeral Home, 268 Kinderkamack Rd., Oradell, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, September 29 at 10am at St. Peter the Apostle, 445 Fifth Avenue, River Edge NJ 07761.
