Margaret Ellen (Long) Gough was born March 21, 1950, to Clifford Lyle and Genevra June (Miller) Long in Nevada, Missouri. She Passed away on October 14, 2025, at home.
Margaret married Tom Gough on August 27, 1972, in Springfield, MO. To this union two daughters were born: Melanie Lea and Jeanie Lynn.
She was Saved when she was 15 years old and later joined Glade Springs Missionary Baptist Church. She was presently a long-time member of Liberty Missionary Baptist Church in Virgil City, MO serving as the Church clerk.
Margaret attended and graduated from El Dorado Springs R-2 schools, Class of 1968. She moved to Springfield, Mo and attended Draughons Business College. Her first full time job was as a secretary at an insurance agency in Springfield. She also worked at the Springfield Public Library, which she really loved. Later she began working at Piccadilly Cafeteria on the Battlefield Mall where she met Tom.
They moved to El Dorado Springs from Kingsport, TN in 1978 so they would be closer to the Church and their parents.
After returning to Missouri, she worked at the Sun Newspaper and at Multi County Office Supply. She retired from the El Dorado Springs R-2 schools in 2010 after working 10 years as a Para-professional in the Special Education Department.
Preceding her in death were her parents; brother-in-law, Noel Jackson and his wife Lea of St.
Louis, MO; father-in-law, Dr. Glenn Gough of Springfield, MO; mother-in-law, Leona Gough of El Dorado Springs, MO; and brother-in-law, Mac Gough an his wife Mary Lou of New Braunfels, TX.
Survivors include her husband of the home; daughters, Melanie Gilbert and Jeanie (Oleg) Laskin; grandchildren Alex Gilbert and Dimtri Laskin and great grandson, Lathan Newton all of Jacksonville, FL; Brother, Kenneth (Kimball) Long of El Dorado Springs; Niece, Adrian (Cain) Gilfoil of Baton Rouge, LA; Nephew, Davis Long of El Dorado Springs; and many relatives, friends, and brothers and sisters in Christ.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sandridge Cemetery.
