Margaret 'Peggy' K. Hendershot, age 92, of Bethlehem Twp., NJ, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.

Peggy was born on March 12, 1933, in Trenton, NJ, to the late Oliver and Ruth (Ertl) Zeigler. She was a long-time Hunterdon County resident, having graduated from High Bridge High School in 1951 and residing in Clinton Twp. and Readington Twp., NJ for many years.

Peggy started working as a police secretary in 1968, before moving up to the position of township clerk for Readington Township, NJ, where she worked for many years before her retirement in 1995. Following her retirement, Peggy worked for Whitehouse Cake Box Bakery in Whitehouse, NJ.

Peggy was an avid reader and loved donuts. She loved visiting New York City and vacationing on cruises with beloved friends. During her spare time, she also enjoyed volunteering for Habitat for Humanity.

Peggy is survived by one daughter, Janet Barclay. One son, John R. Hendershot, and his wife, Linda. Her six grandchildren: Amie Yannarella and her husband, Carmen; Todd Hendershot; David Hendershot and his wife, Melissa; Brad Hendershot; Heather Goiran and her husband, Michael; and Christy Kirkpatrick and her husband, Keith. She is also survived by her fifteen great-grandchildren.

All services are private.

Arrangements under the direction of Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home in Lebanon, NJ.

Memorials can be made to Outcast Dog Rescue.
