Margaret Olivia Harmon Hendrix, 89, of Prosperity, passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Born on July 13, 1936, in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Rembert and Lillie Mack Harmon. Margaret retired from Hollywood School in Saluda. She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church where she had been a Sunday school teacher. Her greatest passions in life included gardening, cooking and being involved with her community.
Margaret met the love of her life, Richard, at Morris Skating Rink and they spent 69 years “skating” around together.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Hendrix; a son, Russell Hendrix (Barbara) of Prosperity; a daughter, Sharon Hendrix Black of Woodstock, GA; sisters, Claudia Clary of Newberry and Denise Cates of Prosperity; grandchildren, Trent Black, Brad Summer and Jennifer Still and great-grandchildren, Kason Black, Abby Still, Riley Still, Avery Still, Lucas Summer and Olivia Summer.
She was predeceased by a grandson, Jared Black and her siblings, Billy Harmon, Jimmy Harmon, Irene Ellisor, and Irma Perry.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, August 25, 2025, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church by the Rev. William Strand and Rev. Jason Schafer. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be Trent Black, Brad Summer, Brandon Koon, Kevin Longshore, Anthony Matthews and Drew Perry.
