Margaret Delores Hnatko (Foley), 92 of Pleasant Mount, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026, at Allied Hospice Center. Born in
Jersey City, NJ, she was the daughter of the late David Foley and Alice (Larkin) Foley.
Marge was a devout Catholic and lived her faith daily. She was a Eucharistic Minister for over 35 years, a member of the Secular Franciscans and a member of the St. Katharine Drexel Altar and Rosary society for over 50 years. Marge had a deep devotion to the rosary and an unwavering faith in the power of prayer.
Marge and her husband, Robert Hnatko, moved their family from
Jersey City, NJ to
Pleasant Mount, PA in 1966. Marge was involved in her community and church while raising her family. She was a Cub Scout leader, CCD teacher, assisted in 4H and many school activities. She was a member of the ladies bowling league, the Hilltop Bingo Club and the Red Hats. She led many bible study groups, rosary devotions, food and clothing drives, volunteered for the Wayne County Christmas Bureau and knitted thousands of pairs of mittens for the homeless.
Marge and her friends formed a blue army cell. This group prayed the rosary each week for 46 continuous years and prior to Marge's passing, the group included three generations of the founding members. The legacy and devotion of the "rosary ladies" will continue each Tuesday for years to come.
Marge is survived by her sons, David Hnatko, Honesdale; John Hnatko, Carbondale; Richard Hnatko, Pleasant Mt.; and a daughter, Margaret Ennis, Pleasant Mt.; 18 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren, one nephew, Mark Foley and his wife, Lynn, North Carolina, many dear cousins and a host of especially close friends she considered family.
Marge is preceded in death by her husband, Robert William Hnatko; sons Robert Alan Hnatko, William Hnatko and Thomas Hnatko; grandson, Christopher Hnatko; great granddaughter Natasha Sanchez; her only brother, David Foley; her brother in law, Jerry Hnatko; her daughter in law, Renee DeGroat and son in law, Kevin Ennis.
The family would like to thank the sta of Traditional Home Health especially her compassionate nurses Amy and Tina, her loving granddaughter, Ashley who served as a caregiver for the last two years and sta at Allied Hospice who cared for Marge and made sure she was comfortable in her final days. A special gratitude to the faithful members of the Tuesday rosary group who gave Marge such joy and purpose.
A funeral mass will will be held on Wednesday, February 25th at 10am at St. James in Pleasant Mount. Friends may visit Hessling Murray Funeral Home,428 Main Street Honesdale, on Tuesday, February 24th from 4pm-7pm. Marge's final Blue Army Rosary will be said on Tuesday at 6:30 at the funeral home.
