Margaret Jane Hochevar, age 96, of Uniontown, passed away on July 18, 2025 at Gables of Green. She was born on July 16, 1929 to Harvey and Katherine (Hoffman) Carpenter in Barberton, OH.
Margaret worked many years at Franklin Printing before retiring. She was a faithful member for over 60 years of Oak Hill Presbyterian Church.
Margaret loved to spend time sewing. She would make teddy bears for victims of crime as well as scarves for the homeless. This is something that she found to be truly fulfilling. The family home that Margaret and Richard made together was always full of love and food and it was always the holiday gathering place, her family remembers this fondly. She was known for her cabbage rolls and no-bake cookies.
Margaret is survived by her loving children, Karen (Steve) Hague, Rick Hochevar, Jr., Becky (Randy) Bear, Tracy Hochevar and Dale (Denise) Hochevar; sister, Nancy Reckner; all of her favorite grandchildren, Kim (Matt), Renee (Kevin), Michelle (Matt), Brent (Leslie), Justin (Jenifer), Nick, Scott (Laura), Craig (Michele), Riley and Reagan; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, friends and extended family members.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 74 years, Richard Hochevar Sr.
Family and friends are invited to visit at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N Canton Rd, Akron, OH 44305) on Sunday, July 27, 2025 from 1pm until 3pm.
Her Funeral Service will be held the following day on Monday, July 28, 2025 at 11am. She will then be laid to rest with her husband at Hillside Memorial Park (1025 Canton Rd, Akron, OH 44312).
Margaret's family would like to thank Our Gables of Green family and hospice for the love and care they provided during her time of transition. They were so much more than an assisted living staff.
