Margaret Hughes Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

Margaret "Peggy" Hughes, forever 39 (90), of Louisville passed on Sunday, September 7, 2025 at Baptist Health Hospital. Born in Louisville, she was the former Margaret Reynolds. Peggy was a retired Housekeeping Manager for Bishop David Apartments and was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church. She was also a proud graduate of Presentation Academy.

She was preceded in death by her husband Roy John Hughes; her parents Thomas and Gertrude Reynolds; siblings Henry Reynolds and his beloved wife Ann, Mary Tallarico, and Dolores "Dolly" Reynolds and her brother-in-law Ken Fehr.

Left to cherish her memory are her brother Tom Reynolds (Sara) and her sister Elaine Fehr. Although she had no biological children, she was the second mother to 23 nieces and nephews who all know (from her reminders) many of their best qualities come from her. She also had 58 great nieces and nephews, 63 great-great nieces and nephews and three great-great-great nieces and nephews.

Driven from the love of her sister Dolly, Peggy became a very active member of St. Ann's Confraternity. For years she served in a leadership role coordinating many of the trips, fundraisers and activities. She was the life of every party, including hosting her family and friends for Derby more than 50 years, as well as providing the treasured haven for holidays. She loved to play bingo and go to a casino, and she regularly took the money of everyone she has ever loved over a card game.

Peggy never met a stranger and lived a life full of faith, love, and family. She had cherished friends lasting from high school including her 49ers club, to the Sarto Club, to more recents met at Morning Pointe where she has enjoyed living her final years.

Visitation will be from 2-8 pm on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at Ratterman and Sons Funeral Home Jeffersontown 10600 Taylorsville Rd. Her Funeral Mass will be 10 am Thursday, September 11 at St. Edward Catholic Church 9608 Sue Helen Dr. with burial to follow at St. Edward Cemetery.

Expressions of Sympathy may be made to St. Ann's Confraternity and Down Syndrome of Louisville.
