Margaret's Journey
The incomparable Margaret Louise Johnson was chosen by God to enter the Kingdom of Heaven on July 10, 2023. We were not ready to lose her, but we know that she is in a much better place. Margaret L Johnson aka Fannie/Naynum to younger relatives was diagnosed with cancer and fought bravely. Throughout her latter years, she was an absolute warrior, enduring so much with so little complaint.
Margaret L Johnson stands in our hearts as a reminder of strength, perseverance, love, and compassion. Though we will mourn her loss daily, we know we will be reunited in time.
Margaret was the devoted wife of Alfred Lee Johnson, who preceded her in death. A loving mother to Chandra M Robinson (Jerry Robinson), Felicia M Johnson, Chiriga M Johnson and son Alfred L Johnson (Octabia Johnson). Grandmother of Echana M Johnson, Yasshi M Johnson, Yasir L Johnson, Cayla D Johnson, Yoi M Johnson and Yai M Johnson. She was Great Grandmother to Brian J Robertson and Legaci M Lee.
Margaret L Johnson born Margaret Louise Cox in Ellenwood, Georgia on September 18th, 1944 was the daughter of Herbert Cox and Annie Sue Cox (Reese), sister of Herbert Cox Jr, Fredrick Lee Cox, Louis Henry Cox, Ida Mae Cox, JB Cox, Willie David (Jack) Cox, James Cox, William Joseph (Billie) Cox, George Cox, Gwendolyn Robinson (Willie Robinson), Walter Earl (Sam) Cox, Linda Bonner and Honorary Sister Gladys Rankin. She is also survived through a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Friends and her Second New Hope Baptist Church Family.
Known for her love of family and friends' gatherings, Fannie/Naynum treated everyone like family. She insisted that you have a plate of food and personally served all she could their plate. I would be remised if I did not mention her extravagant flair for fashion. Dazzling displays of suits, dresses and accessories that would make Paris fashion designers jealous.
Margaret was a kind, caring and giving person who always put the needs of her family before her own. Margaret was a strong woman who faced every challenge in her life with courage and dignity. Our Mother/Grandmother was a source of inspiration to us all and she will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives she touched.
Growing up, Margaret was always there for us, when we needed a shoulder to cry on. She was a woman of strong faith, a devout Baptist, with dedication to Second New Hope Baptist Church. She joined the Church in 1968. As a member she was part of the Pastoral Service Group for over 50 yrs. She also was a Missionary Assistant that would help feed the Homeless and Needy in the Community, in 2018 she was elected Vice President of the Mother's Church Ministry. Her life revolved around home and the church.
I will end with Margaret instilled in us the importance of family, hard work and doing what is right. Our mother was a true role model who we will always look up to even in heaven where she most certainly is.
