It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Mary Latessa, an amazing wife to Frank Latessa, devoted mother, loving Nanna, beloved teacher, and
cherished member of the community, who peacefully passed away on July 13, 2025, at the age of 82. Margaret touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by her family, friends, students, and fellow parishioners.
Born on January 25, 1943, in Fall River, Massachusetts, Margaret spent her life nurturing both the minds and spirits of all those around her.
Her greatest joy and proudest role was that of mother and Nanna. Margaret poured her heart into her family, offering unwavering support, gentle guidance and a love that knew no limits. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest blessings and she made each one feel uniquely seen, heard and deeply loved. From the smallest everyday moments to the milestones that marked our lives, she was always there with a warm smile, open arms and words of encouragement that continue to echo in our hearts.
As a passionate educator, she found joy in teaching mathematics. She taught for 14 years at St. Timothy's in Chantilly, and then went on to inspire and guide many more
young students at Paul VI High School in Fairfax for 19 additional years. Her patience, encouragement and genuine enthusiasm left a lasting mark on generations of students.
In addition to her love for teaching, Margaret was an active member of her Catholic church community where she sang in the choir and found strength in her faith. She had the voice of an angel and a spirit to match.
Margaret also had a joyful appreciation for all things Irish and was a devoted Notre Dame fan. And being from New England, nothing brought her more joy and serenity
than cheering for the Boston Red Sox, the Boston Celtics or being near the water, whether sitting by the ocean or enjoying the peace of a quiet lake.
Margaret will always be remembered as a woman of deep and abiding Catholic faith, constant in her love and full of joy and happiness that she freely shared with everyone around her. She touched so many lives, as a devoted wife to Frank, a loving mother and Nanna, a beloved teacher and through the music that flowed from her heart and lifted the spirits of all who heard it.
Her kindness was truly boundless, woven into every word she spoke and every action she took. She radiated warmth, positivity and compassion, never speaking harshly or acted out of selfishness. Margaret was naturally loving, endlessly patient and genuinely selfless, offering comfort and encouragement to all who crossed her path.
Her gentle spirit and unwavering grace made the world a brighter, better place simply by being in it. Her legacy lives on in the memories we cherish, the lessons she taught us and the love she gave so freely.
A funeral viewing will be held on July 17 at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Fairfax Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to
Alzheimer's Association in her honor.
The love and grace she shared on earth will continue to shine through all who were touched by her spirit. May she rest in peace, in the eternal loving embrace of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
