Margaret Lee Obituary

Margaret ("Maggie") Marie Lee (née Plantholt), 78, of Parkville, Maryland passed away on November 7, 2025 at Howard County General Hospital. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents Edward C. and Vera M. Plantholt, her very missed sister Barbara Ann Plantholt, and her not so beloved nor missed ex-husband, Paul Robert Lee, Sr.

Maggie is survived by her son, Paul Robert Lee, Jr., Paul's wife Deanna D. Lee, and her grandchildren Edward D. Lee, Avery C. Lee, and Mischa Lee. She was a wonderful mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother. She was not shy with her opinions and collected swear words like baseball cards, but beneath her tough exterior was a sensitive, anxious heart. She was a trusted friend to a lucky few and would do for others before herself.

Maggie was a graduate of Maryvale Preparatory School and Mount Saint Agnes College. She had many occupations including being an employee at a major banking chain and a manager at a national health spa organization, and, before retirement, she worked in several capacities for the State of Maryland. She liked working with computers and databases during the rise of computing technology in the workplace. Maggie was a great scratch baker, believed food was love, and nothing pleased her more than seeing other people enjoying food she had prepared. Her skill at the card game pinochle was legendary. She was an avid reader; especially anything concerning the history of the Roman Empire. She was a huge "Star Trek" fan who frequented the earliest "Star Trek" conventions in Maryland; she met every member of the "Star Trek" Original Series cast. She lovingly supported her son's obsession with "Star Wars," too.

Life did not always give Maggie the best, but like the good cook she was, she made do with the ingredients she had.

A funeral mass is being planned for a later date at her family's parish St. Ursula Catholic Church in Parkville, Maryland.

Maggie volunteered for everything. She advocated for those without a voice and was a supporter of the World Wildlife Fund and Best Friends Animal Society. She had many pets; she was especially fond of cats, and the Rainbow Bridge was full of friends waiting for her. She loved and cared for countless sick and wounded animals. Please consider a memorial donation of money or your time to a charity or a shelter serving animals or cats as a tribute to her life.

I am sorry to read Maggie has passed. We met in the early 90s as coworkers. I have fond memories of Christmas Eve with her at Bonnie´s house. Lots of food, gifts and laughter. Maggie was a great cook. Her recipes included many items from vintage Baltimore. Life isn´t always fair. But she made the most of what was given. We moved out of the Maryland area a few years ago. Our deepest condolences to Paul and his family. Maria Kalman
