Margaret Mauriello Obituary

Margaret Jeanne "Margie" or "MJ" Mauriello (née Rudiger), age 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 5, 2025, in Fort Myers, Florida after heart complications due to a traumatic fall a few weeks earlier.

Born on April 20, 1945, in Staten Island, New York, Margie was a graduate of Port Richmond High School. She began her professional life as a Secretary for American Reinsurance before choosing to step away from her career in 1968 to raise her family-a role she embraced with unwavering dedication and love.

Throughout her life, Margie wore many hats with grace and generosity. In addition to raising her children, she assisted in the family's part-time jewelry business and lovingly cared for both her elderly mother and later her father-in-law. She supported
Children's Cancer Organizations by crocheting beanies and blankets. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to start a small doll clothing business for a few years, combining creativity with craftsmanship.

In 1999, Margie and her beloved husband of 56 years, Neil P. Mauriello-who preceded her in death in July 2024-relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada. There they spent two vibrant decades together before moving to Tinley Park, Illinois for two years and ultimately settling in Fort Myers, Florida. During their time in Nevada and Illinois, Margie was actively involved in several women's organizations and clubs, where she formed lasting friendships and shared her many talents.

Margie had a zest for life that was reflected in everything she did. She found joy in cooking and baking for loved ones, crafting intricate crochet pieces, drawing with care and detail, dancing with abandon, and cheering on baseball games. She also had a sharp mind for trivia and a playful spirit that made Bingo nights memorable. A devoted animal lover-especially of bichon frises-Margie's heart extended not only to people but also to the many dogs who were part of her family over the years.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Tammy Mauriello; sons Kirk Mauriello and Craig Mauriello (Anissa); grandchildren Megan Yerkes (John), Allison Mauriello,
Nicole Mauriello, Tyler Mauriello, Blake Mauriello, Alexa Mauriello and Gabriella Mauriello; great-grandson Lucas Yerkes; sister Alice Viani (Danny); nephews Chris Viani and Robert Viani (Terri); five cherished granddogs - Fallon, Carlie, Tessa, Tate & Truffles; and two great-granddogs - Cashew & Echo

Her kindness knew no bounds; she would bend over backwards to help anyone in need. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend-and always the life of the party-Margie leaves behind a legacy of warmth and compassion that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Margie will be laid to rest at Sarasota National Cemetery. In lieu of services, those wishing to honor her memory are encouraged to make a donation to Small Paws Rescue-a bichon frise rescue organization close to her heart-at smallpawsrescue.org.

May her memory bring comfort and joy to those whose lives she touched.

MJ was so much fun to be around. She had the best sense of humor and she was so witty. She was so active and participated in so many different events. She was just the absolute best! She will be terribly missed.
